At Retallack, we like to stack up the down. Our extensive road network allows us direct access to the alpine in both summer and winter. On a typical day you can expect between 15,000 to 20,000 vertical feet of shred. Rest-assured, your legs will be screaming hot tub by the time we hit the lodge. Endless beauty days. Always. We trace our roots back 125 years and derive our name from Major John Ley Retallack – the previous owner of what was once one of world’s largest silver mines. Retallack is located on the old townsite, between the towns of Kaslo and New Denver, which once housed a swashbuckling mining town.
We value each other and are committed to providing a safe, supportive and fun environment so that we are always healthy, motivated, and prepared. We work closely together, sharing goals and overcoming challenges.
We admire and respect our collective talents and differences. We acknowledge that each one of us contributes to our operations and ultimately to our guests’ experiences’ with us.
Great skiing, riding and amazing scenery is one thing, but sharing it with unique and memorable people is another. Our staff is made up of a blend of ‘Kootenay Folk’ who live the mountain lifestyle to the fullest. We ski deep, dry snow in the winters; and roam these same areas by bike in the summer.
The rugged landscape is in our blood – alpine peaks, valleys, forests, hot springs, glaciers, raging rivers, lakes, and an endless trove of secret treasures just waiting to be discovered. The Kootenays breed the type of people who define a culture that is both mellow and driven. Driven for adventure, but always taking in each moment.
Our professional guides and staff will welcome you with smiles, stories, and best of all – the experience required to share our skiing and riding with you in the best way possible. At Retallack, safety is always our Number 1 priority. All of our experienced guides are trained in client care , advanced first aid, mountain rescue, the safe operation of vehicles and aircraft, wildlife encounter procedures, and wilderness survival.
All of our decisions are made by riders for riders. We believe that life is too short not to ski deep powder, ride epic single-track trails, or revel and share good times with our friends. We value each of our guests and are committed to providing them with some of the “best days of their lives.”
The outdoors is where we play every day, therefore, we do everything in our power to ensure our impact is as minimal as possible. As a result, we’re a leader when it comes to the outdoor adventure industry, we were the first operation to receive the prestigious 4-Green Key Eco-Rating. Our lodge is completely self- sufficient and off-the- grid, with all of our power supplied by our own hydroelectric plant. Learn more.
